Move from Apple Notes.
Your notes, on any computer, in any browser, not just your Apple devices.
Export from Apple Notes
- You need macOS Tahoe (26) or iOS 26 or later. Earlier versions cannot export Markdown.
- Open a folder, select its notes (⌘A), and choose File → Export as → Markdown. Save to a new folder.
- Repeat for each folder. Unlock locked notes first.

Import into HushJot
- Open hushjot.app. No account needed.
- Drop each export folder anywhere on the window. Or open Export and import (⌘J ⇧I) and choose the files there.
- Pick a folder to import into, then press Import. The summary lists anything it skipped.

Questions
- How do I export my notes from Apple Notes?
- On macOS Tahoe (26) or later, select a folder’s notes and choose File → Export as → Markdown. Repeat for each folder, then drop the folders onto HushJot.
- What comes across from Apple Notes?
- Note text, with headings, lists and links as Markdown, one folder at a time. Images, attachments, tags, pins and dates stay behind, and tables don’t always survive Apple’s export.
- Do I need a HushJot account to import?
- No. Open hushjot.app, choose to use it on this device only, then import. No email address, no password.
- Are my notes uploaded when I import them?
- HushJot reads the files in your browser and encrypts each note before storing it. Without an account nothing is sent to us; with Sync, only the encrypted notes are.
