Your Obsidian notes in any browser.
Even on a computer where you can’t install apps. Drop your vault in and your folders, links and #tags come with it.
Export from Obsidian
- Find your vault folder: open the vault switcher and choose Reveal vault in Finder (or Show in system explorer).
- That folder is the export. Nothing else to do. HushJot ignores the hidden
.obsidiansettings folder.

Import into HushJot
- Open hushjot.app. No account needed.
- Drop the vault folder (or a zip of it) anywhere on the window. Or open Export and import (⌘J ⇧I) and choose the files there.
- Pick a folder to import into, then press Import. The summary lists anything it skipped.
In a vault the file name is the title. When a note’s first line says something else, HushJot puts the file name on top as a heading, so [[links]] to it keep resolving. The summary says how many notes got one.

Questions
- How do I export my notes from Obsidian?
- You don’t need to: your vault folder is the export. Drop it onto HushJot, and the hidden
.obsidiansettings folder is ignored. - What comes across from Obsidian?
- Folders,
[[links]],#tags, front matter (as text) and Mermaid diagrams. Attachments, canvases and plugin data stay behind. - Do I need a HushJot account to import?
- No. Open hushjot.app, choose to use it on this device only, then import. No email address, no password.
- Are my notes uploaded when I import them?
- HushJot reads the files in your browser and encrypts each note before storing it. Without an account nothing is sent to us; with Sync, only the encrypted notes are.
