Move from Standard Notes.
Plain and Markdown notes come straight across. Super notes need one extra step.
Export from Standard Notes
- Open Preferences (lower left) → Backups.
- Under Data Backups, choose Decrypted and click Download Backup.
- Unzip it. It holds a backup file and a folder with one text file per note.
- Super notes are stored in Standard Notes’ own format. Export each one as Markdown from the note’s menu and import those files.
From Standard Notes: Create and import backups. Checked October 2026.
Import into HushJot
- Open hushjot.app. No account needed.
- Drop the folder of notes onto the window. The Standard Notes Backup and Import File.txt beside it is skipped if you drop it too: it is JSON for Standard Notes itself, not a note. Or open Export and import (⌘J ⇧I) and choose the files there.
- Pick a folder to import into, then press Import. The summary lists anything it skipped.

Questions
- How do I export my notes from Standard Notes?
- Open Preferences → Backups, download a Decrypted backup and unzip it. Export each Super note as Markdown from its menu, then drop the notes onto HushJot.
- What comes across from Standard Notes?
- Plain-text and Markdown notes, and Super notes once exported as Markdown. Tags, pins, dates and attachments stay behind.
- Do I need a HushJot account to import?
- No. Open hushjot.app, choose to use it on this device only, then import. No email address, no password.
- Are my notes uploaded when I import them?
- HushJot reads the files in your browser and encrypts each note before storing it. Without an account nothing is sent to us; with Sync, only the encrypted notes are.
