Move from Simplenote in a minute.
Same plain, fast notes in a browser tab, now private by default, with folders and Markdown.
Export from Simplenote
- Sign in at app.simplenote.com.
- Open the menu (☰), then Settings → Tools → Export Notes. A zip downloads. In the desktop app it is File → Export Notes.
- Keep it zipped. HushJot reads the zip as it is.

Import into HushJot
- Open hushjot.app. No account needed.
- Drop the zip anywhere on the window. Or open Export and import (⌘J ⇧I) and choose the files there.
- Pick a folder to import into, then press Import. The summary lists anything it skipped.
HushJot recognises a Simplenote export and says so in the summary. Notes in Simplenote’s trash are left out and counted.

Questions
- How do I export my notes from Simplenote?
- Sign in at app.simplenote.com, open the menu, then Settings → Tools → Export Notes. Keep the zip zipped and drop it onto HushJot.
- What comes across from Simplenote?
- Note text, tags (as
#tags), pins, and created and modified dates. Trashed notes, published pages, collaborators and version history stay behind. - Do I need a HushJot account to import?
- No. Open hushjot.app, choose to use it on this device only, then import. No email address, no password.
- Are my notes uploaded when I import them?
- HushJot reads the files in your browser and encrypts each note before storing it. Without an account nothing is sent to us; with Sync, only the encrypted notes are.
